Message from the President's Desk

Greetings and warm wishes from Overseas Agro Traders Association Myanmar (OATA). As you all are aware, I have been given the honor and privilege of serving as the President of OATA Myanmar along with Anant Chhajed as Vice President and Maanoj Chowdhary as Secretary and Treasurer.

At the onset, I would like to thank members of OATA for electing me to the esteemed position of President of OATA and appreciate the trust and faith that they have shown in me and my abilities to fulfill the responsibilities that go with this position.

Vatsal Lilani and the Executive Committee, over the last two years, have served the Association excellently and it is now my responsibility along with Anant Chhajed and Maanoj Chowdhary and Executive Committee Members to, not just continue the good work they have done, but to amplify the same and take OATA to greater heights.

Friends, while India remains a very important trade partner for Myanmar Agri produce, we also feel it is important to make efforts to take Myanmar Agri commodities to markets having a smaller footprint currently. As you will recall, we recently did a webinar with India & Pakistan Pulses Association. Main intent was to share information and further opportunities of trade that exist between Myanmar and other countries.

We are also planning once‐a‐quarter webinars on various pulses that Myanmar can export with various associations. Our aim is to address key issues impacting the smooth trade flow as well – viz logistics. We are confident that our future webinars will get a similar encouraging response as in the past.

I invite everyone to send in their suggestions on activities that OATA can undertake or any critical issues being faced by the trade so that we can address the same and try to find best possible resolutions. You can write to me at president@oatamyanmar.com and I assure you that each and every email received will be discussed in detail by the Executive Committee to decide on the appropriate course of action.

I look forward to everyone’s whole‐hearted support and cooperation in helping us discharge our duties to the Association and its Members.
